Life Story for Mary Tardif

Mary Tardif passed away at Caressant Care Nursing Home, Harriston, on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 in her 95th year.

Mary Lewella Johnston was born December 19, 1922 in Port Credit to William and Ruby (English) Johnston.
She is survived by her children Helen Stickney of Englehart, and Peter Tardif of Kaslo, BC, her grandson John Stickney and his wife Pam, her great-grandsons Jacob and Liam, and her sister Lillian Plumb of Meadowvale.

Mary was predeceased by her husband Horace Tardif in 1998, and by her sisters Ruby Caullay and Aleta Watterson.

During the war, Mary worked at Small Arms in Toronto. After her marriage to Horace Tardif in 1947, she was active in the Rebekah Lodge, the United Church Women’s group, and the Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary. She worked in Lahn’s Grocery and Dale’s Store, and was a VON homemaker. They lived in Drayton for about 15 years before moving to Harriston. She enjoyed fishing, canoeing, camping and picking berries.

Mary was a resident of Caressant Care, Harriston for many years where she was appreciative of the care she received. The family offers a special thanks to Ardda, Anne and Nancy for their visits.

Friends may call at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston on Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 19 at 1:30 p.m.

Interment in Harriston Cemetery.
