Obituary for Patrick Smith
Patrick Smith, of Harriston, at Louise Marshall Hospital, Mount Forest on Thursday, October 8, 2015, in his 81st year.
Patrick Cyril Smith was the husband of late Judith Smith, and father of Dawna Heise and her husband John, and Matthew Smith, all of Harriston.
Remembered by his grandchildren Brandon and Haley Heise, Jennifer Heise, Tyler Heise and friend Sam Wylie, Gage Smith, Brave Crumb, Megan Smith and friend Dusty Connell, and Joshua Smith, and by his great-grandchildren Kale Heise and Leela Heise.
He was predeceased by his son Robert Smith, and by his brothers and sisters Simon Cain, Peggy Cain, Kitty Cain, Dolly Cain, Colleen Cain and Jack Smith.
Patrick was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, an especially proud great-grandfather, as well as a mentor to many. He was a devoted and passionate actor who worked on many stages, and was a tremendous character himself. Two of his proudest achievements were traveling the world with his Mark Twain performance and establishing the Grey Wellington Theatre Guild, which he began in 1974 and that continues to this day. Patrick was a well-respected businessman who retired at the age of 55 to enjoy his time with family and friends, which he did until the end.
Friends are invited to the Harriston Town Hall Theatre (36 Elora St. S., Harriston) on Saturday, October 17th at 2:00 p.m., to celebrate Patrick’s life and recognize his final curtain call.
Memorial donations to Grey Wellington Theatre Guild would be appreciated, and may be made through the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston.
