Obituary for Alberta Stinson

It’s with heavy hearts that we share the news of Alberta Jane Stinson’s passing on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Sunset Manor, Collingwood, at the age of 82. Alberta recently resided in Blue Mountain Manor, Stayner, prior to her move to Sunset Manor. She had moved to Wasaga Beach in 2016, having lived most of her life in Toronto.

Alberta started her adult life traveling Europe. She then settled in Toronto to work for IBM. This allowed her the opportunity to continue traveling across Canada. Alberta also gave back to her community as a volunteer, teaching English as a second language to new Canadians. She retired 30 years ago from IBM, and was a vibrant career woman.

Daughter of her late parents Albert and Marjorie (Connell) Stinson, Alberta leaves her brothers and sisters: Shirley Coates-Male (Ralph) of Wasaga Beach; Jean Stinson of Guelph; Irving Stinson (Janet, deceased) of Guelph; and John (Beth) Stinson of Moorefield.

Alberta is fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews: Cheryl (Doug), Donna (Andy), Lorelei (Dave), Carolyn (Derek), and Kevin (Meggen); also great nieces and nephews Michael (Keri), Sarah (Jake), Tyler, Lucas, and Emily/Dani, and great-great-niece and nephew, Maddie and Liam.

In her new world, Alberta will be welcomed by her brother-in-law Hugh Coates and sister-in-law Janet Stinson.

The funeral service will be held at the Harriston United Church, (57 Young St. W.) on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with reception to follow.

Interment in Harriston Cemetery.

Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Society of Ontario would be appreciated, and may be made through the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston.
