Obituary

Brian Eldon Demerling of Clifford passed away at Palmerston Hospital on Sunday, January 19, 2020, in his 73rd year.

Brian was the husband of Myrtle Demerling, and father of Vicki Manto and her husband Roger, and Deborah Campbell and her husband Douglas, all of Clifford.

Grandfather of Samantha and Nathan Hill of Mount Forest, Nicole Manto and friend Kyle Lonsdale of Guelph, and Michael Manto of Clifford, and great-grandfather of Cassandra Hill.

Brian worked at Demerling’s Garage for 42 years with his father, two brothers, nephew and great-nephew.

He was a member of the Clifford Fire Department for 32 years, serving as Deputy Chief for 9 years. Brian attended fires, accidents and meetings along side his father, Eldon who helped start the Clifford Fire Dept. in December, 1947, with the first meeting held the day after Brian was born.
Brian’s brother Wayne was a member for many years as well serving as Fire Chief. Now, the tradition continues with our grandson Michael joining the Dept. last year.

I can remember as a child helping (well maybe thinking I helped) while Brian rebuild the old fire truck in Clifford. Many hours given between him and Myrtle during the rebuild which brought the truck to life! Please accept my condolences.
