In loving memory
Donald Stuart McPhail of Harriston, passed away at the Palmerston and District Hospital, on Monday, July 26, 2021, in his 90th year.

Loving husband of Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ (Kruspe) McPhail for 68 years.

Father of Paul McPhail & Sandra Schalk of Harriston, Kim & Jimmy Keys of Naples, FL, and Pam & Dave Turton of Harriston.

Grandfather of Brooks Turton & Jackie of Southampton, Jessica Meulensteen & Tim of Atwood, Paige McDonald & Shawn of Mount Forest, Jacklyn Doig-Keys & John Healy of Hyattesville, MD, Patricia Reynolds & Nick of Palmerston, Elizabeth McPhail & Alex Wasilka of Kitchener, and Scott McPhail of Kitchener, and great-grandfather of Sadie & Lyla Turton, Addy, Sully & Pierce Meulensteen, Lily & Emma Reynolds, and Kellin Pearce & Salem Wasilka. Brother of George & Carm McPhail of Kitchener

Predeceased by his parents, Clayton & Annie (Copland) McPhail, and brother Grant McPhail.

Don & Jackie moved from Clifford to Harriston in 1959. Don immediately became involved in the community and kept very busy over the years. He joined various service clubs and associations such as Kinsmen (becoming a life member in 1976), K-40, Legion, Shriners and Masonic Lodge. He served the community as a volunteer firefighter in Clifford and Harriston, was a Council Member, and then Mayor of the town of Harriston from 1971 to 1976, and a Board Member and Chairman of the Palmerston & District Hospital. Don was instrumental in being on the first Palmerston & District Hospital fundraising Radio-thon. He was a member of the Harriston Curling Club and the Harriston United Church. Don & Jackie ran a successful Auto, John Deere, and RV business in Harriston over the past 66 years.

Visitation will be held at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Everyone attending must wear a mask and respect social distancing.

The funeral service will be held at Harriston United Church on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. You do not have to register to attend the visitation or funeral service, but please respect social distancing and wear a mask. The funeral will also be available virtually for those that cannot attend.
