Obituary for Florence Dickert

Florence Anna (Klein) Dickert of Lakelet, passed away at Fordwich Village Nursing Home with her family at her side, on Monday, June 28, 2021, in her 98th year.

Florence was a loving and supportive wife to the late Ervin 'Benny' Dickert (1995). Devoted mother of Ron & Mary Dickert of Walkerton, Murray Dickert of Guelph, and Karen & Sandy MacEwen of Lakelet. Proud and caring grandmother of Cheryl & Richard Rowley, Dan Dickert, Gabrielle Dickert, Colleen & Jeremy Weishar, Rodney & Jeni MacEwen, and Lacey & Amber MacEwen, great-grandmother of Jenna Rowley, Morgan Huntaxe, Brynn Weishar, Brayden Weishar, Scott MacEwen, Thomas MacEwen, Tiana Bailey, and Tyson Morgan, and great-great-grandmother of Aurora Huntaxe.

Florence was born in her home in Carrick Township on March 28, 1924. She was the last surviving child of George & Caroline (Hafermehl) Klein, being predeceased by her brothers Edward, Lloyd, Art, Elmer, Herb, John, Gord, and infant brother Albert, and by her grandson Scott MacEwen. Growing up, she and her brothers swam, fished, played ball, hockey, and skated, usually being joined by their many friends and neighbours. Florence was an excellent student and wished to pursue further education, but went to work instead.

In 1942, she married Ervin (Benny) Dickert, and they moved onto the home farm where she remained for nearly 80 years. During these years, she worked side by side with her husband on the Dickert family farm and raised her children. Florence enjoyed having people for visits and meals, going to dances every Saturday night, and celebrating and hosting all important family occasions. Her faith and church were very important to her, and caring for her family, friends, and home brought her great joy.
