Obituary for Gerald Stroeder

Gerald Joseph Stroeder of Harriston passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, February 11, 2022, in his 78th year.

Born in Carrick Township, he was the eldest son of the late Simon and Loretta Stroeder. Loved spouse of Lois Comly. Remembered always by his children Michael (Cecilia) Stroeder of Oshawa, Sharon Stroeder of Cobble Hill, BC, and David (Dianne) Stroeder of Palmerston, and by Lois' children Steven (Laurie) Lindenschmidt of Harriston, Stacey (Terry) Heeley of Oro Medonte, and Kevin Lindenschmidt of Palmerston, and by their families. Special Popa to Ava, Payton and Zayden.

Also remembered by grandchildren Ashley (Aaron) Falconer, Bradley (Kristina) Stroeder, Anthony (Melany) Schouten, Houston Schouten (Brooke Harrison), Steve Baboulas, Adam Baboulas, Michael Keats, and Jenn Keats, and by his 5 great-grandchildren.

Brother of Leonard (Nancy) Stroeder of Clifford, Brenda MacInnis of Kitchener, Richard (Bernice) Stroeder of Mildmay, Sylvester (Linda) Stroeder of Harriston, Donna Strangio of London, Paul (Wilma) Stroeder of Mildmay, Mary Ann Linker of London, and Loretta (Gary) Stockie of Waterloo, and brother-in-law to Robert (Sandra) Comly of Wasaga Beach, Greg (Krista) Comly of Meaford, and Kerri Comly of Meaford. Remembered by his many nieces and nephews.

Gerald was predeceased by his daughter Barbara Anne, his children’s mother Doreen Stroeder, sister Janet Vinandy, and brothers-in-law Peter MacInnis, Joe Strangio, Wayne Murphy, David Comly, and Brian Comly, and by Lois’ parents Graham and Isobel Comly.

Visitation will be held at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Please RSVP to attend on the funeral home website, or by calling 519-338-2441.

A private family service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 18 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Fr. Michael Anderson officiating. The service will be live-streamed.

A celebration of Gerald’s life for the public will follow his funeral, at the Harriston Legion on Friday beginning at 12:00 noon. Proof of vaccination and identification required to attend the reception.
