Obituary for Jean Field

Jean Field
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mom, Marion Jean (Dickson) Field of Clifford, on August 4, 2022, in her 95th year. Jean was born June 10, 1928 on her parent’s farm in Carrick Township.

Wife of the late Russell Field (2015). Together they shared 58 years of marriage, working together operating a successful dairy farm, raising their family, and being actively involved in their church and community.

Loving remembered by her children Heather Huston and her husband Paul of London, Vaughan Field of Brantford and his partner Lynda Elliot. Adored grandma of Allison Huston and her husband Shaun Baron of London, and Megan Faherty and her husband Kevin of Welland. Great-Grandma Gigi to Deklan Faherty. Fondly remembered by sister-in-law Deanne Dickson of Mildmay and brother-in-law Claude Field and his wife Elaine of Carrick Township, and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents James and Annabel (Darling) Dickson, brothers Kenneth Dickson and his wife Mildred, John Dickson and his wife Florence, George Dickson and Ralph Dickson, and sisters Stella Douglas and her husband John, and Alice Mawhinney and her husband Ivan, as well as brother-in-law Kenneth Field and his wife Eileen, and sisters-in-law Dorothy Wicke and her husband Carl, Marjorie Klinck and her husband Kenneth, and Ruth Beisel and her husband Mervin.

Jean had a deep spiritual faith and was an active member of the Knox United Church in Clifford and the UCW. She was a talented sewer and quilter and enjoyed many years as a member of the Carry-On Club. Jean enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles and playing board games. She was particularly ruthless at Fuddle Duddle. Jean loved to cook and bake and was always on the hunt for another good recipe.

The family would like to thank the countless friends, neighbours and relatives that supported Jean, but in particular her neighbour Marten Smallegange and her niece Linda Miller, whose care and support over many years allowed her to safely live out her life at home in Clifford. A special thanks to Lynda Elliot for her compassionate 24-hour care that allowed Jean to stay at home for the last few weeks of her life.

Visitation will be held at the Hardy-Lee funeral home, Harriston on Monday August 8th from 6:00 to 8:00 and at Knox United Church, Clifford, on Tuesday August 9th from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Art Hiley officiating. Interment in Clifford Cemetery.
