Jean boarded at our place, Art & Clara Ruttan’s when she taught in our one room school. Dick and Jean remained friends with our family for many years. I am so sorry I lost track of Jean in recent years. We will always remember her as a beautiful, caring teacher, lady and friend.

What a wonderful lady, Carrie. I always think of our time in California where I got to know your Mom a little better. Hugs to you and the girls.

Carrie - I am so sorry for your loss. I know the last couple of years have been really difficult for all of you. My Aunt Jean was a classy lady. I always admired her clothes and she even gave me a special coat of hers that I wore for years! I always thought of her when I wore it. She was generous and kind to this niece (Darlene Lucas who became Darlene Eerkes) and we had many conversations about education. I loved Christmas dinner at the home of Aunt Jean and Uncle Dick. I always thought Aunt Jean's eyes sparkled! There was a special light in those eyes. I am sad for all of you!!! May God give you comfort and strength through this time. May you have much laughter and joy as you share special stories and delightful memories in celebration of your Mom - there are many to share!
