Obituary for Mabel Mercier
Mabel Anna Elizabeth (Newman) Mercier passed away at Strathcona LTC, Mount Forest on Sunday, January 3, 2021 in her 88th year.
Wife of the late Harvey Mercier. Mother of Lisa Schovanek and Cameron Lang of Morinville, Alberta.
Remembered and missed by her brothers and sisters Faye Binkley of Harriston, Keith and Wendy Newman of Harriston, Sharon Lett and Harlen Whetham of Mount Forest, Dale Newman and Lil Bode of Brussels, Lloyd Newman and Cathy Cybulskie of Mount Forest, and Bonnie and Frank Mantler of Mount Forest, and by her sisters-in-law Frances Newman of Clifford, and Elaine Newman of Hanover. Mabel is also fondly remembered by her friends, Harvey’s family, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mabel loved gardening, her cats, and reading, especially science-fiction. She enjoyed knitting, bowling, little theatre, jigsaw puzzles, and creative writing. Mabel will be very missed by everyone who knew her.
Predeceased by her parents Charles and Martha (Scott) Newman, her brothers Gerald Newman, Robert Newman, and Donald Newman, her sister Janice Hale and husband Bernard, sisters-in-law Carmie Newman and Mildred Newman, and brothers-in-law Andrew Lett and Jack Binkley.
Private funeral arrangements entrusted to the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. Interment in Harriston Cemetery.
Memorial donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
