An inspiration

Hi, I had the pleasure of meeting Irma probably as far back as 2005 when I became CDA manager of her particular geographic area (North Perth).  The North Perth branch was so successful in providing education to people with diabetes and raising funds to provide those services.  I remember attending the 20th Anniversary of the Branch and the 25th Anniversary of the town.  All were celebrated in style with Irma laying out the goodies and the tea cups with saucers.   I called one year to ask how the door-to-door fundraising campaign was going and was told "not very good" and when I asked why "it's because of the price of pigs".  As a city girl I had no idea why pigs would have an impact on fundraising.  I soon learned that if the farmers aren't making the money they need, they have less to donate.  I soon started to eat more pork :)

I think the world of Irma, she is an inspiration and I hope to keep active into my senior years and contribute to my community just as she did.

RIP Irma :)
